Hospice services are free and are offered in a non-discriminatory manner to eligible adult or child patients, regardless of ethnic, cultural or religious affiliation.

The hospice team, made up of doctors, nurses, social workers (with specialized training in palliative care) and volunteers, provides patients at home with:

Medical and nursing services to achieve optimal control of pain and other symptoms

Informing and educating the family and/or patient regarding diagnosis, prognosis, treatment; and care; providing medical equipment (oxygen concentrator, secretion aspirator, etc.) and care materials (dressings, incontinence pads, etc.); preparing the family for the patient's death (last 48 hours)

Psycho-emotional support services and spiritual assistance

Basic counseling and emotional support for the patient and family using appropriate techniques (individual, family or group); counseling and spiritual support.

Volunteer services

Companionship for the patient; household help; routine shopping; "respite" break for the caregiver; small household repairs; transportation to/from the hospital, etc.

Social services

Informing and supporting the patient and family in the necessary steps to obtain social rights; material or financial support for patients and families who have insufficient income to cover minimum needs; recreational activities for assisted children (camps, trips).

Family support services during the period of mourning

Emotional support and grief counseling (individual, family or group); consultancy and support in solving social problems (e.g. survivors' pensions).

Spiritual support and counseling services

Spiritual support and counseling services, provided by a chaplain or spiritual counselor, respecting the beliefs and personal values ​​of the beneficiaries. Patients and families are helped to cope with questions and concerns they have regarding the meaning of life, suffering, or death.

Services provided by Hospice Emanuel

The services provided by Hospice Emanuel can be requested by the patient or family both following the recommendation of the specialist or family doctor, and on their own initiative, if they meet the eligibility criteria. In order to benefit from hospice services, they will present themselves at the Hospice Emanuel Foundation headquarters with the following documents required for registration:

* copy of the patient's ID card or passport;
* copy of a recent pension coupon and the patient's CAS insurance certificate/ or certificate from the workplace endorsed by CAS;
* copies of medical documents (hospital discharge note, tomography results, result of the histopathological examination).

At the hospice headquarters, the patient or relative will complete an application form for registration. Subsequently, the patient will be visited at home by a doctor and a nurse for the initial assessment of the medical condition and the establishment of the treatment and care plan. The frequency of home care visits will be established together with the patient and the family, depending on the care needs. Depending on the problems identified by the medical team, they may suggest to the patient the intervention of other members of the hospice team (social worker, psychologist, chaplain, volunteer) or their services may be requested directly by the patient or relatives.

Hospice Emanuel provides palliative care services:

* adults diagnosed with advanced, progressive oncological disease, with limited life prognosis (under 12 months), confirmed by an oncologist;
* children with various serious incurable conditions (oncological or non-oncological) confirmed by an oncologist;

Hospice services are offered to eligible patients free of charge, without discrimination based on age, sex, race, social or religious affiliation.
