About us
Hospice Emanuel
The "Hospice Emanuel" Oradea Foundation is a charitable, non-governmental organization, whose main activity is palliative care for adult and child patients diagnosed with advanced incurable disease in the municipality of Oradea and neighboring localities. The Hospice Foundation also aims to influence local practices by promoting the hospice philosophy and the principles of palliative care among professionals and the general public.

Mission and vision
Hospice Emanuel Foundation is a registered charity in Oradea, Romania.
Our goal is to provide specialized palliative care services in a non-discriminatory manner to people diagnosed with advanced oncological diseases in our community. We also aim to influence local practices by promoting the principles of palliative care among medical professionals and the general public.
Mission: to ensure, in the spirit of Christian love and compassion, an optimal quality of life for people diagnosed with incurable diseases with limited prognosis, who reside in Oradea or neighboring localities.

Values and principles
La Hospice Emanuel îmbrăţişăm şi susţinem următoarele valori, bazate pe misiunea organizaţiei şi pe dedicarea personalului şi a organizaţiei către excelenţă şi integritate:
- Dignity At Hospice Emanuel we recognize the value of each person and are dedicated to maintaining the freedom of choice and control of the patients we care for.
- Compassion The people we care for and their needs are our priority. At Hospice Emanuel we stand in solidarity with and show empathy for the situation of the patients and families we care for.
- Christian love Our attitude and work with patients is inspired by the love and concern that Jesus showed to the sick in His time.
- Quality We strive to provide holistic, individualized and quality care, through professional and competent interventions to the people we care for.
- Advocacy We defend and promote the best interests of the assisted persons as well as the interests of the staff and volunteers at the hospice as a priority, demonstrating loyalty to the beneficiaries of our services and to colleagues.
- Teamwork At Hospice Emanuel we maintain a collegial atmosphere, based on mutual respect and support, by sharing experience and acquired knowledge and promoting a spirit of cooperation.
- Hospice Emanuel Adheres to the basic principles developed by the WHO and detailed in the Council of Europe Recommendation Rec. (2003) 24 on the provision of palliative care services.
Staff
The interdisciplinary clinical team is made up of doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologist, chaplain and volunteers, with specialized training or education in the field of palliative care. The staff in the management and administrative-financial department ensure the smooth running of the activity and projects carried out by Hospice Emanuel.

Projects
Partners in care
Partners in Care is a project that aims to develop a support network for hospice patients and their families, provide social support services and involve Vodafone employees as volunteers at the hospice. The project has been funded by the Vodafone Romania Foundation since 2006 and is carried out in partnership with Hospice Casa Speranţei (Braşov and Bucharest) and Hospice Casa Albert (Bacău). You are sick, and we care… The project allows us to celebrate the birthdays of hospice patients and to assist 30 families/patients with very low incomes with hygiene products every month. Funded in 2008 by the Bihor County Council, the project is currently being carried out with financial support from the Stop Hunger Association, the Emanuel Theological High School and the Oradea Social Community Administration. Harvest for the Hungry
Harvest for the Hungry is a project that addresses hospice patients who, in addition to their illness, are facing financial and material difficulties. They benefit from monthly financial assistance for basic food and occasional material assistance (e.g. firewood for the winter), aimed at improving their living conditions. The project has been funded since 2007 by the organization Transform Europe Now (Great Britain) and in recent years by the company Sodexothrough the Stop Hunger Association. Hospice Emanuel Summer Camp
Hospice Emanuel Summer Camp. The project allows a week of relaxation and fun in a summer camp, for a number of 30 children assisted by the hospice and 10 relatives. The goal of the camp is to offer them a pleasant experience with outdoor activities, excursions, fun games, but also the opportunity to spend a week in an atmosphere where each child is appreciated, valued and surrounded with love and compassion. The project has been funded since 2004 by the Hope for the Family organization in the United Kingdom. Luceafărul Mourning Camp
Luceafărul Mourning Camp. Every two years, Hospice Emanuel organizes a therapeutic bereavement camp for adolescents. The purpose of the camp is to provide psychological support for a number of approx. 20 bereaved adolescents, in order to facilitate an effective coping with the bereavement situation. The project is financed by local churches and companies and took place in 2010 and 2012. The rainbow art therapy club
The rainbow Art Therapy Club. The project aims to minimize emotional distress and anxiety in children diagnosed with serious incurable illnesses and children of adult patients in hospice care, through art therapy activities. The project is funded in 2013 by the Community Foundation and Mol Romania, through the MOL Children's Health Program. Adopt a Family is a project initiated by the Stop Hunger/Sodexo Association, which aims to create a support network for children who are at high risk of dropping out of school due to the poverty they live in. Three children, hospice patients, were included in this project in 2012, through which they benefit from monthly financial support to continue their studies. The project is financed by the Stop Hunger Association and the St. Dimitrie Foundation in Bucharest.
